The Maintenance Checklist of Fiber Laser Cutting Machine

Fiber Laser Cutting Machine

Fiber laser cutting machine is a cutting-edge technology revolutionizing the metal fabrication industry. It is utilizing active optical fibers to generate a high-powered laser beam then transmitted through a transport fiber to the cutting head for the operation. The intense fiber laser is focused into a narrow beam, enabling the precise cut on the various metal thicknesses. Fiber laser technology is renowned for its strength, reliability and effectiveness in diverse infrastructure and manufacturing industrial applications.

Unlike other laser cutting conventional methods, the distinguishing factor of fiber lasers lies in how the laser emits or is generated from the machine for processing. The appeal of fiber lasers has soared due to their high versatility of operation, finding application across multiple industries. In particular, CNC fiber laser cutting machine excel in cutting materials like mild steel, stainless steel, aluminum, brass, copper and more. The fiber laser cutting is highly precise, also boasts efficiency, low maintenance requirements and seamless integration into any facility. Let’s explore its maintenance elaborately for effective output.

Daily Inspection of Fiber Laser Cutting Machine
Before starting the machine every day to operate, check the working gas & the gas pressure of the laser. If the level of the gas pressure is inadequate, should be replaced promptly. Monitor the machine’s X-axis zero point, Y-axis zero point, Z-axis zero point, laser readiness status and ensure other buttons are not damaged (also, verify the indicator light). Monitor the mounting screws for the X-axis, Y-axis & Z-axis zero points and limit switch for each axis are responsive.

Verify the water level circulation in the chiller is adequate. If the level of the water is insufficient, add water accordingly on the fiber laser cutting machine. Monitor the external optical path’s circulating waterway to avoid leaks and address any leaks otherwise, the lifespan of the optical lens may be affected. After the completion of the cutting process, inspect the focus lens for damage. Check the external light path’s telescopic skin cavity to avoid burns or damage. After completing the daily work operation, promptly clean up the cutting waste, working area and keep the place tidy. Also, ensure that all equipment parts are clean and free of dirt and prevent placing debris on any equipment part. After the processing work is done, open the air compressor’s drain valve at the bottom of the air tank for the after draining and tightly close the valve once the waste water has drained. After the complete operation, follow the shutdown procedure and turn off the main power supply of the entire fiber laser machine.

Highly essential to regularly clean the debris from the air outlet and ensure proper ventilation. Verify the gas path filters regularly, promptly remove any water and debris. Check the crews of the travel switch bracket are not loose regularly. Facilitate the heat dissipation of internal electrical components by cleaning the dust from the filter screen of the electric control cabinet ventilation fan in a timely manner. Also, clearly clean the protective skin cavity of the guide rail on time which prevents the damage of the guide rail, thereby extending its service life of the laser cutting machine. After installing the fiber laser cutting machine & using it for a period, it is important to readjust the level of the equipment to ensure its cutting accuracy. Check the lubrication filling of the guides and lead screws every other week to keep the moving parts lubricated & precisely which can extend the service life. Also, verify the pollution on the surface of the reflector, focusing lens and clean the optical lens in time to ensure the service life.

Maintenance of External Optical Path Optical Lens
Protect the surface of the optical lens by touching it directly with your hands which can easily cause scratches on the mirror. If there are oil stains or dust on the mirror surface, clear it to avoid affecting the lens performance. Under no circumstances should the optical lens be cleaned with detergent or water as the surface of the lens is plated with a special film because the usage of water & detergent damages the surface. Dust, dirt, or water vapor which is present on the lens surface can easily absorb laser light and damage the lens coating. If the lens is damaged, contact the after-sales service department immediately to repair it. When installing or replacing the reflector or focusing lens, do not use excessive pressure which can cause deformation of the lens and affect the quality of the laser beam.

Installation or Replacement of Optical Lens
Please pay attention to the below things before installing optical lenses
– Please wear clean clothes while working, wash the hands with soap or detergent to keep them clear and wear clean & light-colored gloves.
– Do not touch the lens with any part of the hands to avoid lens damage.
– When removing the optical lens, please wear gloves, avoid touching it with your hands and hold it from the side of the lens. Also, avoid touching the lens coating surface directly.

Avoid blowing air against the lens with your mouth, when installing the lens. Keep the lens on a clean desktop with a few sheets of lens paper under the lens. Take care when removing the lens which prevents it from getting scratched or falling. Avoid applying any force on the coated surface of the lens. Ensure that the lens holder on which the lens is installed is clean and clear any dust or dirt in the holder with a clean air spray gun and gently place the lens in the holder. When mounting the lens to the holder, avoid applying excessive force to fix the lens which avoids deformation and affects the quality of the beam.

Precautions to maintain when replacing optical lenses:
– Handle the lenses with utmost care that avoid any damage to the components while removing them from the box of the machine.
– Avoid applying any pressure on the lens until the wrapping paper has been removed from it.
– When removing the reflector and focusing lens, wear clean gloves to the hand and pick them up from the side of the lens carefully.
– When removing the wrapping paper, ensure no dust or debris falls or is present on the lens.
– After removing the lens, use a spray gun that removes any dust on the surface of the mirror and then place the lens on a special paper meant for optical lenses.
– Clear the lens support frame and fixed frame, remove any dust or dirt and make sure that no foreign objects fall on the lens during assembly or installation.
– Avoid applying excessive force to prevent the lens from deforming, when installing the lens on the lens holder.
– After the lens assembly is complete, use a clean air spray gun to remove any remaining dust or foreign objects from the lens component.

Cleaning The Lens
There are different methods required to clean the lenses. The flat mirror surfaces without a lens holder can use lens paper to clean as same when cleaning a reflector. For curved mirror surfaces or with a lens holder, it is good to use a cotton swab when cleaning a focusing lens.

Steps for cleaning a lens with lens paper
– The blower assists in blowing off any dust on the lens surface.
– Clear the lens surface with alcohol or lens paper. Never use dry lens paper to directly drag it across the surface of the mirror. Instead, place the lens paper on the surface of the lens, add 2-3 drops of high-purity alcohol or high-purity acetone then slowly pull the lens paper out. Continuously repeat the process several times until the mirror surface gets clean.
– Fold the lens paper in half 2 to 3 times & repeat the above steps until the lens mirror surface is clear if the lens gets dirty.

Daily Maintenance of The Fiber Laser Cutting Machine
– Before and after each use of the machine, inspect the rails for any signs of wear or damage. Strictly verify the laser quality to ensure consistent performance for effective output from the sheet metal laser cutting machine.
– Check for leaks in every electrical component, circuit, resonance chamber, vacuum pump connection and other connective components.
– Ensure there are no abnormalities or alerts on the control panel and smooth to use.
– Tighten all screws on the equipment and listen for unusual noises which assists for effective operation.
– Confirm the water chiller is working properly and that the coolant is circulating properly without material distortion.
– Confirm the focusing mirror, the working area is clean and free from dirt.
– Regularly clean the fan from dust or debris to maintain efficient operation and high-quality end product.
– After completing the processing, clean the working bed area by removing cutting waste and emptying the compressor tank.
